great quality recording, one of my favorite very moons of all time for sheer uniqueness of it, they draw out the beginning and its very different from most very moon intros, the whole second set is on fire, the ladies is a great standalone the waves is dark though there are a few parts where barber and magner don't really synch up, they totally make up for it, and the runlike hell back into reactor sets things on fire. fun sound one to boot.

Subject: overrated...
or maybe I just don't like hiphop jams and metal Svenghalis. Barber's tone is harsh throughout; more noise and shredding than actual inpsiration from the band as a whole. That said, the Triumph>Helicopters is a nice jam and a good indication of the sunninct, direct jams they were aiming for, for better or worse.

Subject: one of the best
This is the best show I was at, and I think one of the best ever. The Triumph->Helicopters may be my all time favorite jam by any band, ever.

Plus the sound is superb, one of the best auds out there. Kevin always does a great job, but in this intimate and amazing sounding venue it is especially great.

Subject: unbelievable
this show is in my top 5 of all time. the whole thing is just incredible. Triumph > Helix is fantastic. The whole second disc is Sammy pounding away at the kick drum. The RLH is top notch as well. Do yourself a favor and download this show immediately.

Definitely top five. I mean, just look at the setlist. First set: Hip-hop jam>M.E.M.P.H.I.S>Sven, a great House Dog, a Very Moon(!), plus a booming Triumph>Helix? Awesome set. Then it only gets better in the second: Ladies opener, raging Reactor>Inverted Waves>Crix, then a Floodlights>RLH>Reactor ending. Jesus, they busted out all the stops for this one. I should add that this Crix is a particularly astounding version. Then just for kicks they throw in a Sound One and Shelby encore.
Easily one of the best shows from '02. Plus, the sound is very good. Nice clarity, good bass response. Don't miss this one!

Subject: This is a dead man's party, who could ask for more?
Everyone talks up the middle segment of this show, but I think that's short changing the stellar start. The band really gets the crowd into it with a nice straightforward hip-hop jam, and a hip-hoppy MEMPHIS reprise of the jam, but it's really the -> Svenghali that hooks me on this show. It sounds like Voices Insane at first, but the beauty of this segue absolutely has to be heard. And then the jam in Svenghali is totally unique...Barber shreads heavy-metal like to start the jam, and it just leads into total 80s territory -- very, very cool shit. Musically, this is probably the best show I've ever been to, and I've definitely piqued the interest of many a person with this show.

Subject: one of the best from spring '02
Not much from the spring of 2002 can compare to this show. the following night had the now infamous "hardcore" jam; 4-20 wisco bisco has achieved legendary status; 4-6 at the Norva is, although an average show; probably one of the best setlists ever.

this show is just unparalleled for jamming from that tour. the two major highlights are the triumph>helicopters and the reactor thru crickets.

triumph>helicopters is bumping, evil, demonic. the beginning of the triumph jam beats the hell out of the riff, and as the jam progresses, it attains a gorgeous electronica feel. trancey and happy, this jam *soars* as it approached the segueway. the helicopters is one of the first good examples of the new arrangement of the song.

the reactor jam is equally evil and trancey, leading into a frenzied inverted waves. the waves jam into crickets is pure dub. a tight reggae beat with silky bass lines leads right into the slow and ethereal intro to crickets. like any good crickets, this one rages in the first jam and gives more of that great dubby feel in the second. get this show for the triumph>helix, stay for the dub waves and crickets.
